Concussion Training

USA Hockey Requirement - Coaches Concussion Training
This must be completed prior to any team activity participation.

Requires coaches to certify by submitting a certification form that they have had concussion training each year.

  • The certification form, attached to the right, requires the coach to provide some evidence that the training was completed, like a certificate of completion.  Training can consist of training through online CEP modules, the Center for Disease Control, or any other sport or activity training that includes concussion training.  The Center for Disease Control training can be done online and allows you to print out a certificate to attach to the certification form.  In person CEP training will not be accepted at this time.

  • This training, and what it requires coaches to do on the ice and behind the bench, are no joke.  You will need to know when to remove players from practice or a game and will have to receive a letter signed by a medical doctor and the player’s parent before allowing them back on the ice if they’ve had a concussion event.  There are recordkeeping requirements to follow as well.  Failure to follow the USA Hockey policy and requirements can lead to personal liability for player injuries.

Once completed, please send a copy of the concussion program certificate to the, CCHA Registrar, registrar@cchockey.org
