Hello and welcome to CCHA! We are so excited to see you and your players back at the rinks.

If you have any questions about our program, you can find some great information down below, in our parent presentation (recording found in the column to the right), and in our new to hockey section. We're happy to answer questions if you'd like to reach out. 


Mite League Structure and Age Groups

What are the Mite Levels in the CCHA?

  • Rookie Mites (Pre-K age boys and girls)
  • Termites (Kindergarten age boys and girls) or Girls 6U (Kindergarten age girls)
  • Mini-Mites (1st Grade age boys and girls) or Girls 6U (1st Grade age girls)
  • Mites (2nd/3rd Grade age boys and girls) or Girls 8U (2nd/3rd Grade age girls)

Rookie, Termites and Mini-Mites are managed by the Lower Mite Commissioner and have a dedicated Lower Mite Page. For questions about these levels, please direct your questions to lowermite@cchockey.org.


New to hockey?

Welcome! We've got some information for you in our New to Hockey section. Take a look. Our Mite Commissioner is happy to answer any questions you may have as well.

2021-22 Mite Ice Time Structure

Ice Time Structure November - December:

(Please note there may be modifications to this should Covid safety require it)

Weekend: 2 Ice touches (1 Saturday and 1 Sunday)

  • Shared Ice Practices with 3-4 Teams
    • ADM Station Practices
  • Half-Ice In House Hockey Games/Scrimmages

Weekday: 1 Ice touch

  • Shared Ice Practice with 3-4 Teams
    • ADM Station Practices

Ice Time Structure January - March:

Weekend: 2 Ice touches (1 Saturday and 1 Sunday)

South and West Teams:

  • Shared Practice with 1-2 Other Teams
    • Zone/half-ice/full-ice Practices
  • Half-Ice and Full-Ice In House Scrimmages and vs. D6 Games

East Teams:

  • Shared Practice with 3 Teams
    • ADM Station Practices
    • Half-Ice In House Scrimmages and vs. D6 Games 

Weekday: 1 Ice touch

  • Shared Ice Practice with 3 Teams
    • ADM Station Practices

Mite Coaching Minimum Requirements

  1. Background check – Good for 2 years, the season in which completed, plus the following season. 
  2. SafeSport – Must be renewed each year.
  3. Age Group Specific Modules – Mite coaches minimum requirement is U8, does not expire.
  4. Concussion – Required every hockey season.
  5. CEP Level – Mites level 1 or higher, does not expire.

Attention Interested Coaches!

Mite/8U Coaches Need the Following BEFORE you can be on the ice:

1) USA Hockey Registration as a coach (need each year) http://www.usahockey.com/coachingcertification

2) MITE/8U age Module (good until coach moves to anther level i.e. U10, U12, etc http://www.usahockey.com/coachingcertification

3) USA Hockey SafeSport Cert (must be renewed each year) http://www.usahockey.com/safesporttraining

4) Background check form filled on - MN Hockey Website http://screening.minnesotahockey.org/

Use CCHA login credentials: Association - Chaska/Chanhassen, District: 6

5) CDC Concussion Certification and Form

6) CCHA Coaching application

Prior to 12/31 - The coach must attend a CEP Level 1 class. If they are not a CEP level 1 on Jan 1st they can not coach.
