Getting Started with SportsEngine

IMPORTANT STEPS:

As parents, you'll need to do a few things right after your teams are formed on SportsEngine that will make it very easy for coaches and families to communicate as a team through the site. These steps might feel like a pain to setup the first time, but the nice part is that once you've set it up once, it will work without any setup in future seasons.

Steps 1-4 below are extremely important steps we can take as parents to make life easier for everyone involved. Please consider finishing these steps as soon as you can. The information below those 4 steps provide you with details on the great features you can use once you have this setup.

1. DOWNLOAD THE SPORTSENGINE MOBILE APP

Downloading the mobile app is an extremely easy and important tool for all parents and coaches to use. It will allow you to communicate with the team while you're out and about or at the fields without having to rely on emails or text messaging.  You'll get RSVP reminders for all practices and games, and it's easy to view calendars across multiple players if you have more than one child playing with CCHA. Download it ASAP if you don't have it yet!

2. ENSURE YOUR PROFILE IS SETUP WITH YOUR EMAIL AND MOBILE PHONE NUMBER

We want to make sure coaches have access to your email and mobile phone number in case of emergency or last second changes in weather that require contacting parents with urgency.

From the website:

  1. Login with your email and password. If you are a parent that has not registered a player before, you'll want to wait until you're added as a contact by the player's primary guardian.
  2. In the upper left corner, click on your username to go to your profile settings.
  3. Under account information, you'll see your name, primary and secondary email and phone number. Make sure you have a primary email and mobile phone number included.

From the Mobile App

  1. After logging in, from the menu at the bottom of the screen, click on "My Account"
  2. If the mobile phone number and primary email address you see are accurate, no action needed. If not complete or not accurate, you will need to follow the website instructions to edit your profile info.

3. ENSURE ALL NECESSARY PARENTS/GUARDIANS ARE ADDED AS CONTACTS FOR YOUR CHILD'S PROFILE

We want to make sure league and team communications sent through the site or mobile app are going to all the necessary player's parents and guardians. As the parent that initially registered your child for CCHA, you are in control of making sure they are added. Here's how:

From the website:

  1. After logging into the website, click on your username to go to your profile settings.
  2. You should see your child's player profile. Click on the profile.
  3. Ensure your mobile phone number and email address are on your child's player profile.
  4. At the top of the page, you can add a Contact. If you do not already see necessary parents/guardians as contacts, click on Add Contact.
  5. Type in the email address for the additional contact you want to add.
  6. If that individual is already a SportsEngine user, they will receive an email to claim the player account. In the future, any team the player belongs to, all guardians will be members of team updates. If the email address entered is not a user, they will be asked to create a username and password and will then be tied to the user profile.

From the Mobile App:

  1. Click on My Account
  2. Under your own profile info, you'll see all player profiles tied to your account. In the player name, you can see the guardians tied to the player. If one is missing, click on the player name.
  3. Under profile, make sure you have the correct email address and mobile phone.
  4. Click on the Guardians tab. If you need to add a guardian, click on the pencil icon in the lower right. Click Add Guardian.
  5. Type in the email address of the new guardian and select which player profiles you want to add them to (if you have multiple kids that have profiles)

4. ENSURE YOU ARE OPTED IN FOR MESSAGING

The club and teams need to be able to communicate with parents for important league or team updates. If you are opted out of messaging, you won't receive these updates. You are in control of whether you're going to receive these updates. To ensure you do, make sure you setup your notification settings to receive these messages. You can also opt to receive an alert via text that you received a message.

From the website:

  1. From your account settings (Login, click on username), click on Settings in the left menu panel.
  2. Under your profile settings, you'll see Notification settings. SportsEngine will display every "Network" that your user account is tied to. CCHA will show up along with others you may belong to for other activities.
  3. For each email address you have, make sure the box is checked for CCHA.
  4. Optionally, you may choose to receive an alert via text when you receive a message. This setting won't provide the message via text but will provide you a link to read the message from a text message alert.
  5. Once completing this step, coaches will see you as "Opted In" for messaging.

From the Mobile App:
From the mobile app you cannot modify whether you receive messages - this must be done through the website. However, you can control your mobile app notification settings which is also important...

  1. Click on the Gear in the upper right corner of the screen
  2. Click on Notification Settings
  3. Click on the Team Name you want to update notification settings for
  4. Make sure you are setup to receive Game and Event Updates, Game and Event Reminders, and Media updates on posts, news articles, and photos. News articles will ensure you receive weather alert updates via mobile app notifications.

TEAM PAGE CAPABILITIES THROUGH THE WEBSITE OR MOBILE APP:

1. Game, Practice, and Tourney Schedules.
Your team pages will have your full team's calendar including games, practices and tournaments. You can view from the team page, from the mobile app, or get the ical link from the team page and load it to any calendar of your choosing.

2. Team Communications
Coaches will be using the Team Chat (instant notifications) and messages feature to communicate with the team. As Parents, with the mobile app, you can also add to the conversation on Team Chat as well. Once you're tied to the team, you can also send messages to other parents if needed without having to know their email address.

3. RSVP to games and events
Once you're tied as a member and have the app, you can easily RSVP to games and events to indicate if you're going to make it in advance. You should still email the coach if you cannot make it but it's a nice tool for coaches to see well in advance who cannot make practices or games.
