Mite Hockey Hoopla

March 11th through 15th, 2026

Victoria Rec Center

The CCHA Hockey Hoopla has become one of our community’s favorite traditions - a chance for our kids to cap off a long season with a weekend celebrating Mite Hockey!

Rules and Expectations

This event is all about celebrating hockey, community, and FUN!

Expectations for Parents

  • Remember: we’re all part of CCHA. By supporting each other now, we’re building friendships and bonds that will last well beyond this weekend.
  • Cheer loudly for your child and their team but don’t forget to encourage all players on the ice.
  • Back our coaches so they can focus on helping every skater grow and enjoy the game.
  • Keep perspective: this is Mite Hockey. One tournament does not define a career. What matters most is that kids leave the ice excited to come back and play again.
  • Follow our Code of Conduct: model sportsmanship, respect, and positivity. Win with grace, lose with grace.

Expectations for Coaches

  • Ensure fair, equal play - every skater deserves their time on the ice.
  • Promote clean play and step in when needed. Commissioners or the Hoopla Director may remove a player if reckless behavior isn’t being addressed.
  • Accidents happen, and learning is part of the process but intentional harm will not be tolerated.
  • Support all skaters, regardless of team, and show respect to referees who are still developing their skills.

Expectations for Players

  • Have fun!
  • Play by the rules.
  • Show respect for teammates, opponents, and coaches—no matter the team or level.

Let’s finish the season with a weekend full of hockey, fun, and community spirit. Together, we’ll make this Hoopla one to remember!

Skills Competition

The skills competition is held for 8U, Mite 2, Mite 3, and Mite 4. Each team has an assigned time to complete their events, so please reference the master schedule for the time slot designated as “SKILLS”.

Coaches Responsibilities

  • Please bring pucks!
  • 1 Coach is in charge of timing each event with a phone or stopwatch, another records the player times to the hundredth of a second (i.e. 28.78 seconds) and count of participants. The average time will be used to score each event
  • Coaches should work together to ensure timely set-up and resetting of each event
  • All players should wear skater gear - no goalies!
  • Due to the limited the limited space on ice, coaches need to organize players, including keeping them on the bench or a knee watching teammates
  • Submit your scoresheet to Erika Spande in the tournament headquarters (Blue Line Room overlooking the Victoria West rink)
