Position Details
- Term Length:
- 1 Season
- Roughly October-March
- You can be team manager for more than one season, but you must sign up each year.
- Compensation:
- Full Family Volunteer Hour Credit
- Upon completion of the responsibilities of this role for the season, you will recieve credit for this seasons volunteer hours for your family. This is not a stipended position.
- Time Commitment:
- Approx. 12 hours per month
Responsibilities
Prime contact for team communication, assists coach, responsible for organizing team events and tournament logistics.
Team Logistics
- Coordinate team (parent and player) kick off meeting in conjunction with the coach.
- Coordinate team gatherings, team building activities, and community service projects as desired by the team.
Team Website
- Keep team website current with schedule, roster, pictures, tournament information, etc.
- Remember that team websites are public, please do not include parent/player personal information.
Communication with Parents
- Set up team GroupMe chat to allow easy communication amongst team families & staff. The use of GroupMe is not required but generally seems to be the best platform that most families already use.
- Send out weekly or biweekly communication via email with most important information as it can sometimes become lost in a group chat and is helpful to have as a reference.
- Provide information for team pictures and ordering link once proofs are posted.
- Communicate CCHA policies and procedures to families as necessary. If/when you have a disciplinary matter, communicate this to your coaching staff as well as your level commissioner. You are not responsible for disciplinary matters.
Communication with opposing Team Managers
- This is not always necessary but can be helpful to ensure all details are set & communicated correctly for all games & scrimmages.
- Be sure to communicate bad weather cancellations with the opposing team as quickly as possible.
- You can often find team manager information on the opposing teams website.
Tournaments
- Please contact each tournament director for all tournaments your team is participating in to be sure that they have your contact information and confirm that all dues have been paid to participate in that tournament. You can typically find a contact form to complete or the tournament director information on each tournament website.
- The CCHA Treasurer (treasurer@cchockey.org) can also verify if gate fee is due for your tournaments.
- Proactively manage tournament(s) details and logistics as information becomes available.
- Pre-order tournament t-shirts, if necessary.
- Provide USA Hockey certified tournament roster when necessary. You can get these rosters from the CCHA registrar.
- Coordinate a rotation with parents to locker room with healthy snacks and drinks for tournaments.
- Organize player goodies or swag bags as desired by the team paid for by families.
Please be sure to register as yourself,
not your child to volunteer for this position when completing your registration!
Step 1
Register with USA Hockey as a volunteer (Ice Manager, Locker Room Monitor, or similar roles).
Cost: Registration is FREE.
Step 2

Validity: Screenings are valid for 2 years, so if you've done it recently, you may not need to do it again.
Step 3
Core SafeSport Training: For new volunteers or first-time certification.
SafeSport Refresher: For recertification if you've completed the core training in a previous season.
Validity: Each course is valid for one season.
Step 4
You must complete steps 1-3 before registering as a team volunteer.
